Paul's Example, the Authority of Scripture, and the Charge to Preach
2 Timothy 3:10-4:8

Chapter 3
10But you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, and endurance.11the persecutions, the sufferings, such as happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra—such persecutions as I endured; and out of all the Lord delivered me.12And indeed all those who want to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.13Evil men, however, and sorcerers will advance to the worse, deceiving and being deceived.14But you, remain in what you learned and were assured of, knowing from whom you learned it,15and that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.16Every scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for discipline in righteousness.17so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

Chapter 4
1I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom.2Proclaim the word. Stand by in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.3For there will be a time when they will not endure sound teaching, but according to their own desires they will heap up for themselves teachers itching in the hearing.4And they will turn away their hearing from the truth, but they will be turned aside to myths.5But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.6For I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has arrived.7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.8From now on, the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day—not only to me but also to all those who have loved his appearing.
